My husband struggles every morning with nausea and feeling week , sometimes followed by headache . Today he said his stool is black as tar . Can I get him into a doc or is this a emergency
JA: Is the headache episodic or daily? And what about nausea?
Customer: Daily sometimes pain in his stomach
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: His dad died unexpectedly in August and his autopsy showed a tumer in is stomach . Cause of death was a heart attack

yes, you should get him to the ER right away

black tar stools is a sign of bleeding from his stomach or esophagus and the blood being digested in his GI system

this is dangerous and needs to be evaluated by a GI doctor right away with an upper endoscopy to look down into the stomach to see where the bleeding is coming from.

he could having a bleeding ulcer.
