Hi there,

Measurement of C-reactive protein in serum for the evaluation of acute phase inflammatory, infectious, and autoimmune conditions.

Do you have a specific question?

Expert:  Dr. Scott replied 8 months ago.

CRP elevations are more strongly associated with infection, especially bacterial.

CRP is more sensitive to low-grade inflammation and in general less specific (may reflect smoking, diabetes, depression, chronic fatigue, hormone replacement therapy)

Expert:  Dr. Scott replied 8 months ago.

CRP can help prognosticate malignant disease, type II diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, and ischemic stroke. CRP may be useful in cardiovascular disease assessment too.
