Customer Question

My son has a fever of 101, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, aches all over, puss bags on his throat, swollen glands...we did a rapid strep yesterday (when he wasn't this bad) and it came back negative...could this have been wrong? What should I do now?
JA: How long have you been dealing with the cough? Are you having any other symptoms?
Customer: The cough started yesterday. Today, added the sneezing, runny nose, body aches and fever
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: He's hardly ever sick and is 5 y/o

he could have a bad viral pharyngitis.

if the rapid strep test of the throat is negative, then he doesn't have strep throat.

he should get blood test to check for influenza flu viral infection

if he is positive, he could benefit from tamiflu
