I am 65 yo & have had diarerrea for 4 days & night. I do not

Customer Question

I am 65 yo & have had diarerrea for 4 days & night. I do not feel bad. But my going to the bathroom is urgent & uncontrollable. I'd had nothing to eat or drink but gatorade, water, a little chicken noodle soup. I am diabetic. My levels are staying good. Any suggestions.
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: No MD yet. I take a boat load of medications & I planned to call my MD in the morning. but I saw your web page & thought I'd take a chance. I take 8 - 10 psych meds per day, Attenolol of BP, Statin for Cholesterol, Nexum for Acid Reflux, Synthroid for Thyroid, ... I'm sure there are a couple of more that I can't think of right now. I did have a couple of days during the past few weeks that I forgot my afternoon meds, could that have messed up my system?
JA: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?
Customer: No allergies. Methlyphenidate, Xanax, Cymbalta, Abilify, Zoloft, Nexum, Tradjenta, Wellbutrin, Synthroid, Atenolol, Atervastatin, Abilify, & Topomax.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: Recently had brain MRI & CT scans - DX white matter small patch disease. Have frequent headaches. Have Fioricet to take and or Tylenol 3 if needed. Have leaky aorta valve in heart but is not large enough yet to operate on, keeping watch on, keeps my short of breath.

Hi Dr. Mo here.

I'm sorry about your diarrhea symptoms, I'm sure I can help you with this.

Have you tried either peptobismol or imodium?

Expert:  Dr. Mo replied 7 months ago.

With you current medications I would lean towards peptobismol which will make your stools darker but won't give you as much cramping as imodium would.

Hi there, may I still help you with this problem? Do you have any other questions for me that I may answer?
