My mum underwent an intestinal bypass surgery. Now after 3

Customer Question

My mum underwent an intestinal bypass surgery. Now after 3 days we notice yellow fluid discharge on the skin where incision was made. Doctors say it's discharge of faeces which is leaking through the intestine. I am worried it might cause infection and further complications. What would be the best line if treatment for this. She is currently on antibiotics and doctors reckon the leak would fix itself in about a week.

yellow fluid sounds like pus

the doctors should culture the fluid to check for bacteria infection in the fluid.

some infections can be resistant to certain antibiotics.

she should take a probiotic pill if she is taking antibiotics daily

you should see her doctors in 1 week to make sure she is healing properly.
