Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

This can be again due to the hiatus hernia related pain. However heart related symptom is also possible. Heart related pain worsens with activities and also may be associated with shortness of breath or dizziness. Intercostal nerve compression from bra wire string is another common cause. Pain feels like lancinating radiating along the rib cage nerve distribution to the back. You should get it examined soon to rule out the heart problem first.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.

No real answer. Hiatus hernia removed . Key hole surgery. No heart problems. Could this area be tender and aggrated by food

Food related symptoms will also be nausea, vomiting, acid reflux in addition to the pain. In that case, this is likely nerve impingement related pain quite common from bra wire or from inflammation of the ribcage area ( costochondritis).
Best wishes
