I woke up yesterday with a sore throat - hard to swollow, I felt weak and had got and cold shivers plus my body was achyToday I feel the same, and now have dizziness and felt light headedIs this just the flu ?

You have most likely developed acute viral pharyngitis which is a self limiting condition which usually resolves by itself over 3-5 days.

You need to take paracetamol 500mg 4-6 times a day for decreasing the body aches.You may also use salt water gargles to soothe the sore throat.

If the condition persists more than 5 days or if you develop high grade fever ( above 102 F) you need to have this seen by a doctor to rule out bacterial infection.
