Customer Question

My b/f has stage IV colon cancer Braf mutation. When he had a temperature of 102 he was hospitalized this past Tuesday. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. Antibiotics had gotten heart rate and temperature back to normal. A chest x ray showed water on outside of lung. Is it a good sign that it is not a malignancy since he had a fever? The water is being drained tomorrow.
JA: Are you keeping a personal medical record while dealing with this?
Customer: He is not me.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I'm not asking about me, I' asking about my boyfriend.

Hi there, give me a moment to review your question!

Expert:  Dr. Scott replied 9 months ago.

Unfortunately, you wont know until a pathologist reviews the fluid. Once the pathologist reviews it, he will give a diagnosis. This could take about a week, however.

You should have a preliminary diagnosis or a general idea of what the fluid is within 24 hours, but it could take about a week for a formal diagnosis.
