I have burning in my anus and don't want to keep putting ice on it as I think it aggrivates the tissues..I had this once before and the doctor prescribed a special ointment and it cleared up but he is no longer working and no one else can see me until Dec 5th. How can I get an Rx to help me now or what can I do for my self. Thank you
JA: How long have you been dealing with the burning? Are you experiencing any other discomfort?
Customer: About a little over a week
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

what is causing the burning?

what treatments have you tried?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I don't know...had a small hemmoroid that was bothering me, but it has cleared just the burning. I saw a chiropractor and I put ice on my back and near the rectum, it helps...temporarily...once I "thaw out" it itches again. Had this years ago...he gave me some kind of ointment and it was cleared up for years. It is back and I really need some relief.

do you have a picture?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No I do not
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 9 months ago.

hard to tell without a picture

are you using creams on it right now or anything?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
aspercreme but I think I had a corticosteroid or something like that.
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 9 months ago.

It has menthol

It is possible that the aspercreme is making it worse

have you tried preparation H?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
it burns
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Isn't there something with lidocaine?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 9 months ago.

Yes, but it is all prescription based

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Is there nothing with that effect OTC
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 9 months ago.

Nothing. No

Then I guess I am back to ice packs and pain meds. Tell me could a diet of Slimfast be causing any of this.
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 9 months ago.

In fact, dietary causes are one of the most common problems

Then people try a variety of creams that end up making things worse

I would try to stop the slimfast and stop all creams. Get some desitin (zinc oxide) and apply that as a barrier cream only

Don't wipe too hard and try to clean with a washcloth or baby wipes.
