Hi , I see a nephrologist because I have ckd, my gfr was around 35 , I took blood test with my regular doctor, not nephrologist and they called and said I need to be concerned because my gfr is 40 AM I MISINTERPERTING WHAT GFR MEANS, I THOUGHT THE HIGHER THE BETTER

Higher the GFR better the kidney function , According to GFR grading of CKD is done .

GFR less than 15 is stage 5 CKD which is the worst form and stage 1 having GFR more than 90 shows good functioning kidney.

Higher the GFR better the kidney function.
