Have Medical Questions? Ask a Doctor Online!
Hi Dr. Ashori here.
Ballanitis doesn't need to be treated with medications always.
Many times it can be treated at home. How long has it been going on for?
So what I am saying is that you don't need to be treated.
If you are having any symptoms of course you should let the doctor know.
But most ballanitis is due to excess yeast or bacteria or moisture on the penis and foreskin.
Women won't contract this from their partners.
We do recommend the men refrain from intercourse since it can irritate their penis but there is no reason for you to be concerned about catching it from him.
So hopefully the doctor will recommend the right treatment for him and since it's only been 10 days it should resolve quickly.
