Welcome to JA

What queries do you have about Oraquick?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Hello , I took an oraquick oral home test this morning. My test came back negative . I took this test approx 91 days after a possible exposure due to unprotected sex and not knowing a full sexual history of the partner . In that 91 day time frame I have not engaged in any sexual behavior of any kind nor have I participated in any other high risk behavior that would expose me to the virus . With this information is it safe to say the Oraquick result is conclusive at this point ?
Expert:  The Physician replied 11 months ago.

Oraquick detects antibodies to the HIV1/2 in the saliva (all body fluids should have them)

It has been consistent in its reliablitly, with a specificity (ability to identify positive results in 99-100%)

In fact the only issue with it is with a very rare persons in which it has a FALSE POSITIVE result, but the explanation is that those people might have had an infection that cross react with the components of Oraquick

The sensitivity for 90 day period provides an accurate result
