How does this medicine compare to propafenone as a function

Customer Question

How does this medicine compare to propafenone as a function of what it is prescribed for? Thank you.
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking? Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: Yes, first I was prescribed propafenone (150 mg/day) for first time appearance of arrythmia. Then, as latter moderately improved I was moved to amioderone (200mg/day, Mon-Fri.
JA: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?
Customer: Nifedipine (30mg/day), recently modified to one every3 days and Xanax(0.50mg/evening). No allergies to this point yo my knowledge; but now somewhat weakened, some difficulty walking by firstly Propaferone and again by amioderone particularly when I was taking the latter (up to a month) 200mg/day at its beginning (as I said, now reduced to 100mg/day M-F).

I'll be glad to help as a Cardiologist.

Both propafenone and amiodarone help control arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation or atrial tachycardia's.

Amiodarone has slightly better effect on controlling arrhythmias originating from the top chambers of the heart, but can be associated with long term side effects such as liver dysfunction,

however, 100mg dose of Amiodarone is a rather low dose.

Warm regards.
