I had a physical recently and blood work done. My globulin

Customer Question

Hi, I had a physical recently and blood work done. My globulin was high at 5.2 and my albumin was low at 2.6. My ALT/AST, BUN, creatinine normal. TSH normal and CBC normal. I'm 36, what should I be concerned about. My doctor ordered a bunch of labs that I will get drawn tomorrow but should I be worried?

Myself Dr Josh- and I’m happy to help with your question today.

Well, For a healthy person Serum globulin range is : 2.0 to 3.5 g/dL. You have a value of 5.2, which is high and could occur with underlying medical condition.

It can be related with- Acute infection/ inflammatory disease like Arthritis.

Overactive immune system can raise such levels.

Regarding Low albumin levels, this could be related with-

Kidney disease/ Liver disease.

At this time, we need to wait for reports of further tests, before reaching a precise diagnose.

Though from these two only changes, chances of any serious issue are slim.

Hope this helped
