the pouch of Douglas is the peritoneal cavity between the rectum and the posterior wall of the uterus in the female human body behind the uterus.

this fluid can be normal or could be from irritation in your pelvis or bowels.

why was the pelvic ultrasound done?

how old are you?

recurrent episodes of PID can cause this fluid there.
