Hello!

Are you taking a thyroid medication ( such as Synthroid )??

Hypothyroidism may be associated with irregular periods and weight gain ...

If not already then you should be on treatment .

Follow up thyroid blood tests( TSH in particular ) should be checked regularly as your dose is adjusted

I hope this information is helpful for you

Let me know If you have further questions or concerns

I will be happy to get back with you

If my answer has been helpful and to your satisfaction then please remember to leave positive feedback

Thank you and Best Regards,

am so worried about my periods is that a big issue? should i use any medication to get periods or should i wait for some days, please suggest me
Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 11 months ago.

Hello again,

No you missing a couple of periods is not a big issue ( just know that you aren't pregnant of course as cause )

Missing a couple periods will not cause you any harm...

It may be that your dose may need to be adjusted on the levothyroxine though ...follow up TSH is recommended now for you ....

You MIGHT need dose adjustment say to 88 mcg or 100mcg for example ....

I hope this information is helpful for you

Let me know If you have further questions

Best regards!

could you please tell that am drinking green tea from past 2 months around 3 cups daily, will it be a problem for me
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
does hypothyrodism is due to lack of iodine deficiency? So can i take omeaga-3 fatty fish oil? is that good with hypothyroid and can i consume more iodine foods?
Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 11 months ago.

Hello again,

1) Drinking green tea is fine ...not a problem

2) These days more of salt is including some iodine ...

Iodine deficiency is potential cause of hypothyroidism but that is not common at all these days ...that is not usually the cause in modern times now ...historically yes our grandparents may have had this as cause ...

3) it is fine to take omega -3 fats / fish oil ...that is fine

Again your hypothyroidism is not expected to be due to Iodine deficiency

Let me know If you have further questions

Best regards!

please suggest me some tips for weight loss
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
no worries on my period right there is no problem?
Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 11 months ago.

Hello again ,

Yes you may eat any fruits and vegetables that you wish ..

I suspect that your thyroid condition may be under-treated currently

Symptoms of hypothyroidism including e fatigue / menstrual irregularities / tendency to gain weight / feeling cold natured/ dry skin / thinning hair / tendency to have constipation

Your missing a couple of periods is not a problem ..will not cause you any harm ...not to worry on that ....

As for weight loss >> check thyroid and possibly/probably need increase dose > priorit#1 I think

Exercise is a must >> increases your metabolism in the best way..

You may give me your height and weight and I could calculate calorie recommendations from that..

Vitamin B complex daily helps to boost energy metabolism.. CoQ10 200mg/day helps boost metabolism...

I hope that this is helpful ..

Best Regards!'
