Customer Question

While showering on Wednesday, all of a sudden, I felt a horrible stinging sensation somewhere on my stomach. When I got out of the shower, I immediately looked and I had at least a quarter size blister on the top of my stomach; not is any crease area and while washing, I must have pulled the skin off, without knowing. It is oozing with a little blood. I have had no burn, etc. I am keeping it covered with gauze and polysporin. Seeing my PA tomorrow, as the PCD is out of town.

Hello, this is Dr. David. I am reviewing your question now and will be with you momentarily.

I am sorry you developed this quarter sized blister

could be a new skin infection.

you need to have your doctor do a skin culture to check for skin staph or strep or MRSA skin infection.

your PA should be able to do a skin culture for you.

How would this happen?

In an area that is totally covered at all times. we do have a pool, i was in there a lot, never felt any pain....wear a one piece suit, stomach was never exposed to sun.

It is not a public pool. I am in there the most by myself.

Are we finished here?

we don't know why sometimes skin infections occur.

at your age, you can have decreased skin immunity sometimes and develop skin infections.

get a skin culture of the area from your PA

and see if it grows out a skin infection possibly.

take a photo of the area

can you upload a clear jpg photo here so I can better help you?
