This is Dr. David

if your stools are large and hard and constipated, this can cause pain with bowel movements and blood as well.

the best way to soften your stools is to eat more fruits and vegetables and fiber and drink more water

eating prunes can help and fiber supplements with psyllium fiber can help soften your stools

if these don't work, you may need docusate sodium stool softeners or laxatives to help soften your stools.

there are laxatives at the drug store which can help soften your stools

let me know if you have questions.
