I've been feeling a pulling feeling up under my left rib

Customer Question

I've been feeling a pulling feeling up under my left rib cage, but only when I lay down on my back or towards my left. Like my spleen is too heavy and pulling. If I roll all the way over onto my left side and a little forward, it stops the pulling feeling.
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: No. Just started a few days ago. I'm on several meds.
JA: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?
Customer: Daily meds: Phernergan, omeprozol, levothyroxin, nucynta, Lexapro, Isosorbide
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: History of stage 4 cancer, progressive multisystemic form of sarcoidosis. Recent ct scan normal, with exception of small lesion on the liver. Switching from methadone to nucynta began a few days ago. Been a difficult switch.

This is Dr. David

what type of stage IV cancer do you have? carcinoid tumor? or sarcoidosis?

you may have a hernia in your stomach or a hiatal hernia possibly causing the pulling feeling up under your left rib cage

a CT scan of your abdomen can check for things like hiatal hernia.

have you had a CT scan of your abdomen recently?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I have both carcinoid cancer (midgut) and a rare form of sarcoidosis which had spread through my body like wild fire. Have been in a type of "chemo induced remission". Cat scan recently (2 1/2 wks maybe) with both oral and IV contrast.

ask your doctor if you may have a hiatal hernia seen on the CT scan which could be causing your pulling feeling.

also inflammation of your stomach from gastritis can cause pulling pain there.

there is always a small chance that the carcinoid tumor could be causing pulling sensation there.

a PET/CT scan or an octreotide scan could be helpful there as well

I would get a copy of your CT scan report from your doctor.

I would be happy to review it with you
