I had surgery to remove screws in my ankle from a broken

Customer Question

I had surgery to remove screws in my ankle from a broken ankle two years ago. Now ten days after the surgery I noticed redness around the staples that were put in. I started taking antibiotics last night and I would like to know how soon I can expect the redness and pain to get better. I am not scheduled to see the surgeon until next Thursday and due to the holiday weekend, I went yesterday to a walk-in clinic where they gave me the prescription for the antibiotic.

This is Dr. David

every patient is different

you really should call up your surgeon and let them know you have redness around your staples

I'm not sure if you have an infection there or not.

the doctor at the walk in clinic apparently though so, but they are not surgeons there

what antibiotic were you given?

signs of infection are redness, swelling, pain and warmth.

would you like to upload a clear jpg photo of the redness around your staples which you think is due to infection?

do you see the "add file" link?
