Have Medical Questions? Ask a Doctor Online!
Hi there. There is primary hyperparathyroidism and seconday hyperthyroidism (i.e. a result of some other primary disease process). How long have you had this? Do you have other medical conditions requiring treatment?
Primary hyperparathyroidism occurs because of some problem with one or more of the four parathyroid glands, such as an adenoma, hyperplasia (enlargement), or rarely a cancerous growth.
Have your doctors determined the cause of your hyperpara?
Symptoms may be so mild and nonspecific that they don't seem related to parathyroid function, or they may be severe. Common signs and symptoms include:
Bone and joint pain
Loss of appetite
Have you had your calcium, phosphorous and parathyroid hormone levels checked? Do you have normal kidney function?
