My nephew who is 8 years old has been diagnosed with severe

Customer Question

My nephew who is 8 years old has been diagnosed with severe autism. He was prescribed Abilify by his doctor. We have been giving him his abilify crushed, mixed with some juice and poured into his mouth using a syringe. I have been reading about Abiliy and realized it is a drug you can NOT crush but I don't understand why? it is not an extended release tablet.
What adverse affects may this have? I don't know how else he will take his medication.
