Im sorry to hear about your symptoms. Pain in the epigastric region just underneath the center of the chest can be due to a number of conditions. This can include simple conditions like gastritis which is inflammation of the lining of the stomach which can occur because of smoking, painkillers and even an infection by a bacteria known as h.pyroli. This can cause a metallic taste in mouth, vomiting and even bleeding from the stomach. Another cause of pain and nausea like this would be due to acute pancreatitis which causes a severe pain which radiates to the back and tenderness in the region. This would require immediate medical attention. Similarly inflammation of the gallbladder can also cause pain in this region.

Now if you have tenderness in teh region then i would recommend an immediate visit to teh ER or the urgent care center and if there is no tenderness and no associated symptoms like vomiting, sweating, shortness of breath or chest pain then you can try using OTC omeprazole which can be helpful in controlling these symptoms. Simple viral infections of the stomach can also cause this. Try the omeprazole and if that doesnt work see your doctor for a full workup.
