Welcome to JA and thanks for asking

Anemia can occur in someone with hemochromatosis and there are few reasons for that. One of those is that damage to liver caused by hemochromatosis can cause anemia by means of an enlarged spleen or hypersplenism. Another way is that anemia of chronic disease can also occur in such patients so it is not something unusual in patients with hemochromatosis. Treatment with repeated phlebotomies can also lead to anemia.

Good luck
