  • Cytomegalovirus or CMV, is a type of Herpes Virus that produces very mild illness in the healthy immune-competent person but can cause severe illness in patients who are compromised immune system, mostly involving the neurological system
  • Once infected, CMV remains in the system for life though in the healthy individual, it remains dormant and inactive
  • This topic is wide. Do you have a specific question or concern? It's best if I address your specific concern

CMV as a main concern, is that in pregnant women.

It can be passed on to the child and happens in 1/100 cases.

This can cause problems, particularly in the first weeks of development.
