Customer Question

I am 82 years old and my doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy. My colon seems to have
become very narrow and it is difficult to go unless I take a stool softener. Is it normal for
your colon to get narrower as you get older and should I really have a colonoscopy.
Is it save at my age. I am other wise in good health. Thank you for your help Maria

Hello Maria

This is pretty normal. Yes. For the colon to get narrower that is.

However, I don't see a good reason to do a colonoscopy for screening purposes only

You could ask your doctor if you can do a FIT test instead.

This is a good, non invasive alternative to a colonoscopy
