Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Bruising can be due to the blood thinner medication --aspirin for example.

However, she should be getting a doppler ultrasound to rule out DVT definitively.

Blood tests alone are not fully accurate.

Hence, if doppler ultrasound was not done, that should be done at this stage.

Negative doppler ultrasound will be very reassuring.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.

This is Dr. David

blood tests would not rule out DVT

only an ultrasound of the leg would have ruled out DVT

DVT in the legs cause symptoms of swelling in the leg and pain.

bruising behind the knee and bruise running down into the heel is a sign of a ruptured vein behind the knee or rupture of the synovial sac causing bruising.

her symptoms are not of a DVT

she needs to see an orthopedic doctor to check for a ruptured vein or synovial sac or a ruptured baker's cyst in her knee causing this bruising.
