After being told by a family practice Doctor I needed to

Customer Question

After being told by a family practice Doctor I needed to wean myself from Klonopin while 22 weeks pregnant, I then had an OB tell me that was not a good idea due to my high anxiety. She then changed my RX back to what it was. Made a follow up appointment with my FP and was called a "drug seeker". I am very confused. I am almost 30 and have taken this medication since I was 17. What to do?

The drug is category C in pregnancy.

It might cause harm and the risk of not using it should exceed the risk of using it.

It is not wise to stop it suddenely, you can go into seizures.

It should be tapered.

Both docs are correct in a way.

I would work with the OB, as that appears positive, but suggest a taper.

I think that the benefit of this drug outweighs the risk

You should stay on it but at a low dose of the medication
