Customer Question

I am concerned that I may have celiac disease. Over the past 8 weeks I've had 2 tummy bugs that required antibiotics. I've had constipation and diarrhea and at times was fine. I currently have diarrhea. I had blood tests done which suggested I was clear. I also had a colonoscopy which showed me to be clear.
I'm now worried that I may have celiac. I'm traveling and away from my medical support.
Could it be that my tummy just hasn't settled fully or is celiac more likely??

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Celiac disease is very unlikely with negative colonoscopy and blood tests.

Your symptoms can be due to the recent viral infection.

Should gradually improve with bland diet.

Irritable bowel syndrome is also a likely diagnosis.

Symptoms come after meals usually.

This also can be treated with proper diet avoiding lactose, gluten, eggs.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
