Customer Question

Is it possible I have lymphoma or another form of cancer? I am 20 years old and I have been very fatigued since last September which makes it difficult to concentrate or get my every day activities done. I have bone and joint pain, mostly bothering my knees, hips, and lower back. But I overall just ache and am also on and off very itchy. I have night sweats almost every night. If it is helpful, I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor and also hashimotos thyroiditis recently. My TSH is normal.

This is Dr. David

lymphoma is still a rare cancer.

what is more likely is a viral infection like mononucleosis which can cause fatigue and sweats and joint and bone aches.

has your doctor tested you for mononucleosis?

you should get tested for low iron and other autoimmune disorders as well.

most pituitary tumors are benign

but you need to see an endocrinologist and get blood test to check your pituitary hormones such as ACTH, AM cortisol, LH, FSH, GH, prolactin,

let me know if you have questions.

I don't know if I was tested for mono but I've had these symptoms for over half a year.

mono symptoms can last for over a half a year

see your doctor and ask for mono testing.

lymphoma would tend to cause weight loss and fevers as well if it is causing night sweats.

so lymphoma would be unlikely
