My husband's blood test just came back as 53 for the EGFR

Customer Question

My husband's blood test just came back as 53 for the EGFR result- it always was >60 in the past. He is not diabetic 5.2 HGA1c and he doesn't have hypertension. This is the only value along with a slightly increased creatinine level. I am worried- He has no symptoms

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

This can be due to the dehydration commonly.

Hence the blood test can be repeated after a week or so with plenty of fluids.

Kidney disease is also possible but the result should be confirmed first.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
