Is a low blood count a sign of cancer in a child

Customer Question

Is a low white blood count a sign of cancer in a child

In the vast majority of cases a low white cell count is nothing serious and may indicate a transient viral infection.

I would just repeat the counts after two to four weeks.

If they are persistently low, which is unlikely, only then would I investigate it further.

In the majority of cases of blood cancer the white cell count is actually high and not low.
