Customer Question

Every so often, once to three times per year I get a 'viral' headache. The headache, which feels like pins & needles from the forehead on up to the top of the head. This is accompanied by serve sweating. Every so often, a cloying sweet smell comes with the headache.

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

That can be due to the diabetes --sweating, sweet smell due to the autonomic nerve dysfunction.

Hence you should get your fasting blood sugar and hemoglobin a1c level checked first.

Next possibility can be menopausal.

Drop in estrogen level can cause these symptoms intermittently.

Lastly, this can be a type of migraine headache given that you get pin and needles sweating which can be construed as prodromal symptoms.

Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
