Last 6 years, I have worn a 75 mcg Fentanyl Patch and taken

Customer Question

For the last 6 years, I have worn a 75 mcg Fentanyl Patch and taken 10-325 mg Percocet on an as need basis. Yesterday I went to my pain management clinic and the doctor made me wait for 1 hour and 15 minutes. She walked in said my drug test showed Hydrocodone in my system, a drug she didn't prescribe for me. She told me she could no longer treat me under my "pain management contract" and so I was dismissed from the clinic. How could Hydrocodone be in my system is all I was taking was the prescribed drugs.

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

That is an unfortunate incident.

Percocet will not cause any hydrocodone or its metabolites.

Fentanyl also cannot cause this.

So only possibility can be due to the mix up of the sample in the lab.

Lab error in other words.

You can discuss with your doctor about your innocence and a second check of the sample in a different lab.

If that does not work, then you will need to look for a different provider.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
