Customer Question

Dr. David: for the last couple of weeks I have had mild, intermittent pain in my right flank, just below my rib cage...kind of a dull ache that doesn't feel musculoskeletal. The last day or two, I now have discomfort beneath my ribs of the same side. No other real symptoms other than some stomach gurgling. What do you think is going on?

This is Dr. David

thanks for asking for me.

this pain can be due to inflammation of your gall bladder or a small gall stone or possibly due to distal stomach inflammation or a duodenal ulcer, which can be inflamed from excessive stomach acid.

you might need an ultrasound of the gall bladder to check on the gall bladder.

if you have excessive stomach acid, you might need a stomach acid blocker to decrease stomach acid to help your pain.

chance for inflammation of the liver or pancreas are less.

let me know if you have other questions.
