Customer Question

At tha end of last yr I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I also have scoliosis and degenerate disk des. Chronic pain I understand, auto immune not so much.
When I'm havin a flare up, that's when my body is attacking itself the most. It then picks a area to trigger a physical response.
Usually lasts ten days.
My question is,of all the possible triggers,do you know of one that results in toenails breaking at nail bed, resulting in trama-size pain, discoloration, death and regrowth.
I've attached a pic. My toe, current and five days into present flare up(it's a side effect) I'm more worried about this toe,I mean i know toenails don't randomly fall off,but this one don't look right.
All facts,ideas,and guesses are appreciated.

You need your thyroid function checked.

Thyroid imbalance can cause the dry nails, and can contribute to your pain.

TSH should be between .3 and 2.5, ideally.

If over, 2, you need to consider hypothyrodism and hashimotos.

This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

Thanks for the picture.

You have fungal infection of the toe nail --that makes it fragile.

You should consider oral Terbinafine 250 mg daily for 8 weeks to repair your nails
Best wishes,
