Customer Question

Last week I had 4 treatments of hyperbaric oxygen treatment, on Monday Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. On those 4 days I took very deep breaths and held in the oxygen before exhaling. Starting on Saturday, I started to feel a burning feeling in my throat and air passages from my throat down to my lungs especially when I take deep breaths. Today is 3 days later and I am still feeling a sore and burning feeling in my throat, air passages down to my lungs. Does this show damage to my air passages and lungs? Is it possible for me to recover? Could the damage be permanent?

This is Dr. David

your sore burning throat sensations are most likely not due to you taking deep breaths of oxygen and holding them during hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy

do you have acid reflux? acid reflux can cause burning in your throat.

if you have excessive anxiety, this can cause burning and pressure sensations in your chest.

this burning isn't a sign of damage.
