Customer Question

Hi I'm 20 years old and was diagnosed with mono about three weeks ago and had the sore throat, tiredness, fever, weakness, rash and then I was finally feeling better for a few days but then my stomach felt extremely queasy on Saturday and I ended up throwing up a few times and ever since Saturday my stomach has been queasy and uneasy. I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the mono?

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Mono is epstein barr virus.

It can affect your gastrointestinal system.

Liver inflammation is common manifesting as high liver enzymes.

That can cause all these symptoms.

Hence you need to see your doctor for a liver function test.

Please follow a bland diet.

Avoid alcohol.

Anti nausea medications like zofran and acid suppressant ranitidine can be used to help with the symptoms.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
