Customer Question

Hi there,
I have a situation that I'm hoping is not serious.
I am almost 75 years of age, 04/05/41.
Today I needed to relieve my bladder and, there was some pain during release and a blood clot, or flesh and blood clot, passed with urine and it was about 1/4" wide, 1" long. I am long passed periods, although this is what it looked like with a little red blood, and this was definitely from the bladder, not the uterus.
Please tell me it's not serious. I started drinking cranberry juice immediately.
Thank you very much,
Sue Senn

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Blood clot with pain suggest likely bladder infection.

Bacteria like E coli can cause inflammation of the bladder wall, breaking of small blood vessel and the clot formation.

Usually not serious.

Another possibility can be passage of small kidney stone which can cause blood clot as well.

Without any recurrence, this is not likely any serious.

You should see your doctor for urinalysis as well.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
