This is Dr. David

you should see a primary care doctor or go to an urgent care center.

you need a chest xray or chest CT scan to check for pneumonia

if you are coughing up sputum, you need a sputum culture.

you might have a bacterial infection in your lungs which might need a course of antibiotics.

you could have the flu or influenza which might need antiviral tamiflu medication.

there are stronger prescription cough suppressing medications like Codeine or Tesselon Pearls your doctor can prescribe to you

you might need a course of steroid therapy to help calm down inflammation in the lungs
