omeprazole 20mg is still a low dose, over the counter strength of prilosec.

you need to change your diet to avoid foods which worsens stomach acid.

avoid eating close to bed time.

you need to talk to your doctor about stronger medications like nexium 40mg or protonix 40mg which are stronger.

you also need testing to check for H Pylori bacteria infection in your stomach which can worsen stomach acid.

let me know if you have other questions.

I'm taking it twice a day and I thought eggs would be good so I've been having them for breakfast but I take it there not
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 2 years ago

eggs are ok, but can be oily if they are fried.

eat a more bland diet now like toast, rice, chicken, bananas, crackers, rice for now

How about ginger ale and am I still taking a low dose I'm technically taking 40 mgs a day
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 2 years ago

ginger ale can help nausea, but sodas can cause worse stomach acid

use the omeprazole 30-60 minutes before meals

also use maalox and mylanta and zantac throughout the day to help decrease stomach acid as well

I get the burning on the top part of the stomach and sometimes warm ness in between shoulder blades
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 2 years ago

it sounds like you are still having acid reflux.

you still need to see a doctor

some patients need nexium 40mg twice a day to stop stomach acid and prevent acid reflux.

That's why I'm trying to get advice on what to do cause o can't afford a doctors appt should I be eating frequently or what exactly should I be doing
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 2 years ago

you should be having 3-4 regular small meals a day with protein and complex carbohydrates, no alcohol, no sodas, no spicy foods.

use the omerpazole 30-60 minutes before meals

use zantac and maalox and mylanta after meals if you still have acid reflux.

avoid smoking, chocolate, peppermint after meals

work on exercise and weight loss to help improve your core muscle strength to help decrease acid reflux.
