If you're talking about the feeling of spinning around usually it's from what's called benign vertigo--inflammation of the inner ear. Sometimes sinus or ear infections can cause that but most often it's just a noninfectious problem

That said, a transient ischemic attack or an actual stroke can cause dizziness

Brain tumors or tumors of the acoustic nerve in the ear can also cause dizziness
