Customer Question

I excessively sweat a lot.. Always have but its getting worse every year. I'll get yellow stains on all my lightly coloured tops and get sweat marks on everything as soon as i put it on so i only wear black.. My hand and feet get really sweaty as well
and i've found that recently i sweat quite a lot from my upper lower body. (Knees up) Is there a reason for this? A cure? Deodarents never do the job

Hi, I'm Dr Chaithanya, an experienced General Physician attending you today.

The condition of excessive sweating is called Hyperhydrosis. It can be primary without any causes, called Idiopathic or primary hyperhidrosis or it can be secondary due to hormonal conditions like hyperthyroid or few vitamin deficiencies.

There can be more sweating at places that are termed as selective hyperhidrosis or primary focal hyperhidrosis.

The yellow color is due to the sweat interacting with bacteria that is present on the skin, and after interaction it can leave an odor and a yellow stain.

Possible treatment options are,

1. Wearing loose cotton clothes and maintaining cleanliness

2. Using mild antiperspirants

3. Periodic Botulinum toxin injection

4. Destruction od exocrine sweat glands at the places of excessive sweat using microwave energy/laser

You need to discuss the options with the dermatologist so that he can suggest you the right treatment based on your body conditions.

Hope the information helps!
