I recently seen my doc about a small bump on the right side

Customer Question

Hi I recently seen my doc about a small bump on the right side of tongue towards back of throat. He informed me it wasn't cancer and said it was some type of mucus infection. He prescribed an oral rise that seemed to help but it keeps coming back. A month has past and its still there(off and on) now this morning I gargled and noticed I spit out blood. Now this scares me. I can't get in to see my doc until November. Do you think this is cancer related? I hardly drink and never really smoked cigarettes, but I've been a marijuana smoker for years. Any Ido is much appreciated.

Hi there,

This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

This can still be a bening lesion in more than 99% cases.

You are young, no history of smoking tobacco and also there is no increasing growth.

This bump is likely a taste bud inflammation.

The infection may persist in some cases but should be painful.

Without any pain this is just considered inflammation.

No reason to worry about.

You can upload a picture here also.

Best wishes,

It was my pleasure to help you today.
