Hi, I have really sore, red & swollen gums, but just on the sides. What can I do for this. Tooth paste burns so I've been using coconut oil & thieves essential oil mixed.

Hello from JustAnswer.

These symptoms are typically due to inflammation and infection of the gums, called gingivitis. While more severe cases may require antibiotics, you can try to use an anti-bacterial mouth rinse to help to control germs in the gums and promote healing. There are several on the market, although I generally recommend a chlorhexidine mouth rinse.

It also may be soothing to use a hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse.

If these interventions are not able to ease the symptoms, then it would be appropriate to see your dentist or doctor, as antibiotics may be necessary.

If I can provide any clarification, please let me know.
