Customer Question

Hi, I've been flying a lot back & forth from LA to Charleston. My left foot is swollen quite a bit, a little warmer & has a light pink/red color to it. I have had major trauma to that calf & lost a good amount of tissue over 9 years ago so my calfs sirculation isn't quite as good. I'm 48 years old & am normally very active & train regularly. I've had a bit of swelling in the past in my left foot after air travel but never noticed a warmth & a small variation in color & would go away after a few days. Could this be a clot?

This is Dr. David

there is a small chance you could have a blood clot causing swelling and warmth in the leg from your flights

the best way to know for sure is to go to the ER and get an evaluation by a doctor there and an ultrasound of your leg.

an ultrasound will be able to tell for sure if you have a blood clot or DVT

mild swelling and warmth could also be an early cellulitis infection possibly.

do you have an ER or hospital close to you?
