I have had a bowel irrigation 7 days ago and still have same

Customer Question

I have had a bowel irrigation 7 days ago and still have same symptoms of blockage. X-ray and Cat scan show no blockage, but I haven't been able to have bowel movement since. What do I do next?

you need to see a doctor and have a manual disimpaction done.

No one likes to do this but it must be done

Finger inserted into the rectum to remove stool

I have a different answer.

CT scan shows no blockage.

Irrigation of the bowel, if done by a skilled person, would have negated the idea of blockage in the rectum.

You need to see a gastroenterologist at this point.

If you have been using laxatives, then this can be an effect of long term laxity use.

If you have never had a colonoscopy, this needs to be arranged. CT can does not necessarily pick up polyps or other lesions.

A CT and bowel irrigation wouldn't rule out an impaction. You need the rectum examined
