I went to the ER with bad lower back and abdominal pain

Customer Question

I went to the ER with bad lower back and abdominal pain about 8 or 9 days ago. They did an abdominal x-ray and diagnosed me with constipation. Just today, I started producing normal-sized stools, but I still have some pretty bad pain around my tailbone. Is this from constipation, or should I be worried?

Hi there,

I am online and will be happy to answer your questions.

I am sorry to hear about your problem.

constipation causes abdominal pain, when it is very severe and person is constipated for a long time without passing a stool.

this does not sound related to constipation.

please let me know little more about pain.

how would you rate your pain on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being worst.

present all the time or does it come and go?

what makes it worse?

what makes it better?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Pain is probably a 5 or 6. Feels worse after sitting or lying down. It seems to come and go, but it seems to hurt the worst when I'm thinking about it.

do you feel pain on passing stools?

do you feel pain at tip of tail bone?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Today was the first day I've been able to pass a normal-sized stool in the last 10 days or so. There pain doesn't seem to be much different when passing a stool. The pain seems to be at around the waistline.

this is most likely musculoskeletal in origin.

take advil on as needed basis and continue with daily routine works.

this should go away in few days.

if pain does not improve with advil or it worsen, or becomes persistent, please visit your primary doctor.
