Customer Question

I tested positive for syphilis 6 years ago and got treated fairly quickly. Got tested 6 months and a year after treatment and was told everything was all good. I'm just wondering if it really goes away, does it still show in my blood work now, can I or should I donate blood? Am I succeptable to it again?

Hi there ...

If Syphilis treated at its acute stage then it will clear up from blood and will not cause any long term issues .

But if someone want to donate blood he should get western blot test to see antigen of this infection , if this turns to be negative then one can give blood safely .

So ideally you are safe , and hopefully you may have negative western blot test .

Regards .

Thanks .
