Right eyeball bloodshot, have some tightness in sinuses

Customer Question

Right eyeball bloodshot, have some tightness in sinuses right side. i'm 64 years old, take blood press meds, also painkillers like excedrin and mucinex for nose. Maybe I'm over-medicated?

This is Dr. David

you could have a bacterial or viral sinus infection causing tightness of the sinuses.

this can cause your eyes to be blood shot.

you might need allergy medications and steroid nasal sprays and a course of antibiotics to help clear up this sinus infection.

allegra, claritin or zyrtec can be used with over the counter Nasocort steroid nasal spray to battle runny nose from allergies called allergic rhinitis which can result in sinus infections.

you might need a prescription eye drop with steroids in it to help decrease inflammation in your eyes.

do you have a doctor who can check on your sinuses and see if you need a course of antibiotics?
